I guess i stay at 6.9.0 then
-
Has this ever been resolved, I am still at 6.8+ and will never go to 6.9 unless it does...
-
Yes. I ended up removing everything and reformatting the disc. I have replaced the data and all is back to normal.

Too bad, even the extra step, messes with my automation

So now it seem Root User needs to have a password...never use one as my server is airgapped. is there a work around?

That is just filesystem overhead.
The easier and more standard way is to New Config without the disks and let it rebuild parity.
Thanks so much trurl.

Sorry to but in...
I have three drives to remove, they are good drives (just shrinking array) and I have moved the data from each disk to different disks (yes I used disk to disk and not shares).
I notice that there are small amounts of data left on the disks but nothing physically shows on the disks in krusader. Should i at this point just reformat these disks per 'clear drive then remove method' and continue or is there an easier way to do this? -
Thank you for confirming that squid, and thanks for all your help

You should post your complete diagnostics.zip file, not just the syslog
BUT, presumably from having to tear through the syslog your screenshot is from the parity drive, in which case that particular attribute is normal on a Seagate drive since it reports it differently than your data drives (WD)
Thanks Squid, sorry i sent the wrong one, here it is
And thanks again,

Great work on your case! Are you happy with it?
Yes, very much so, and greatly improved as far as cooling
And thank you,

Is a very high raw read rate error common in reconstruction? I haven't been here after a failure so any help would be awesome.

Thanks for the replies

I was wondering if that was correct? It just seemed too easy, turn it on and it works?

Remote is through plex only, the question was for access to manage the shares between hops on the same net/subnet
-
This is not an open network, and I have had no problems with this in the 10 or so years i have been doing it? What would make me go to thr e trouble of installing and upkeeping a vpn when it hasn't been necessary?
-
yes, I run no vpn.

This has probably been asked and answered 1000 times, but I cannot find it...:(.
I have a fios gateway and my primary network (orbi rbk-50 + 3 satelites) is setup off of that. I am trying to allow plex to run remotely (externally) through their apps, etc. In order to get this stable, I had to put the server on the fios gateway network. This isolated it and though i can access the unraid webgui I cannot get to the share folders themselves to manage the data.
What am i missing here, I have been using smb for this up until now.
Thanks loads,
Ice
primary server stats below
remote system is windows 10 pro (current)

Here are the Temp stats for this case, running for about two months now. Under a media scan in emby this is an average of 43 degrees on the hard drives (WD Purple 10TB) and it might reach 30 degrees for the board, maybe 38 degrees for the cpu. I am so happy this turned out this well

Just went through with my Silverstone DS380 build and modifications, let me know what you think. the temps and airflow are improved greatly after some real trial and error (could not have been done without you guys).
Here are some pics (gimme a little time to add them) to answer most of the questions.

Thanks, will give it a try

I still miss the old version (worked out of the box for me) since I am having so many issues with getting this one working, it will not even see my DISKS, and shows no UNRAID folder as well as the issue with Unassigned devices. the video by SpaceInvader seems to be for the older version and just confused the dickens out of me (not a hard difficult task...lol)
Any help is greatly appreciated -

for streaming and sharing to multiple users running multiple client devices (remote and local), plex is hard to beat imo. i found emby clunky and much less refined than plex. might consider jellyfin someday if they ever put an app out for roku and appletv. ymmv
Roku app is there
Advice for upgrading parity drives and removing drives
in General Support
Posted
I am upgrading both parity drives and removing three old drives.
I have three old wd efrx 2TB drives to remove (used ckear-me script), the first one was removed flawlessly and took about 5 hours, the second one I had to abort after 18 hours as I was sure something was wrong. It is a very large array, but I surely do not believe it, expecially since they were empty (except for clear-me folder), should take that long. It had removed the 'clear-me' folder required for identification by the script.
Am I correct to assume something went wrong and that I was correct in aborting the script?
At this point should I replace the parity drives, remove the empty drives and rebuild the array keeping the original parity drives just in case?
