Some advice on removing drives...
The screenshot above is where it ended up, with nothing changed after the drives were removed and the new config was done oer instructions. That is exactly what I did, and again, to make sure of it.

Some advice on removing drives...
Actually, I have done that as well as pool and all. nothing happens, and that is why I am confused. I have done this a few times in the past, and this has never happened.

Some advice on removing drives...
Okay, I shut down the server, removed the drives, restarted the server, and all looked well with the server showing the proper drives missing. I then went and tried to do a new config and got no results at all. All the drives are empty. Is there a limit to the amount of drives to remove at a time? Otherwise what am I doing wrong now?...lol I have put the drives back in and restarted the server and array to make sure all is well and it is fine.

Some advice on removing drives...
One last question then. Am I better off waiting until after doing this to install the second parity or not?

Some advice on removing drives...
I agree, is there a better way without taking forever, or many days at least?

Some advice on removing drives...
I am adding a second parity and hoping to remove 4 drives (shrink the array) as well. I have moved all the data from the drives and am looking to do this properly to cause the least amount of pain...lol. Am I correct in assuming that I can remove the drives and then reconfigure (new config), running parity rebuild? I am very hesitant to do it this way with no parity, since it is what I call a large server, and the data is very long and arduous process to recover. Any advice here is greatly appreciated as always. Thanks all, Rick

Advice for upgrading parity drives and removing drives
I am upgrading both parity drives and removing three old drives. I have three old wd efrx 2TB drives to remove (used ckear-me script), the first one was removed flawlessly and took about 5 hours, the second one I had to abort after 18 hours as I was sure something was wrong. It is a very large array, but I surely do not believe it, expecially since they were empty (except for clear-me folder), should take that long. It had removed the 'clear-me' folder required for identification by the script. Am I correct to assume something went wrong and that I was correct in aborting the script? At this point should I replace the parity drives, remove the empty drives and rebuild the array keeping the original parity drives just in case? log_10162023.txt

Unraid OS version 6.10.2 available
So now it seem Root User needs to have a password...never use one as my server is airgapped. is there a work around?

[Support] binhex - Krusader
I still miss the old version (worked out of the box for me) since I am having so many issues with getting this one working, it will not even see my DISKS, and shows no UNRAID folder as well as the issue with Unassigned devices. the video by SpaceInvader seems to be for the older version and just confused the dickens out of me (not a hard difficult task...lol) Any help is greatly appreciated

Tower cases with 5.25" drive bays top to bottom...

Tower cases with 5.25" drive bays top to bottom...
I have 4-5x3 iStar cages, but only space for three in my case, so i was thinking of grabbing a new case for them all to fit in However I am already at 18 drives plus cache and parity. since the cache is not mounted in them I have one slot and that is reserved for a second parity and then im all filled up. For the price I may look into a 24 bay rack mount setup for a couple hundred extra...and then just think of playing around with my second license. Thanks loads, Ice

[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
Is it normal that once installed this, not only takes forever to load a large library, but this also seems to really not like any really large files. To explain, I have part of my library which is average sized (6-10gb) x264 mkv's and it likes those just fine. On the other hand i have a growing number remuxed x264's (25-40gb) and x265 HEVC's (25-50gb 7.1 dolby atmos) and it hartes those.when the library is loading in it freezes sold, and won't get past it. On the other hand I can just go to my htpc and run anything I want from kodi (just none of the features that a media server like plex gives me). I have messed around with plex and emby since way back and like them both, but plex so far is not liking my collection which is growing towards 46TB at this time. I just did a complete metadata rewrite for my files with metabrowser (manually - ouch), and upgraded to 6.5.0 unraid. The install is the most recent docker plex by you, installed though the gui. Should i just keep pluging away at it, or am I missing something? I just need some pointers I guess. Thanks for all, Ice

New Emby Docker
Have been trying to get this to run now for over a month (on and off) but this has now gotten to me and it's either me or the machine I have gotten the webUI to come up, and I pointed it to the server, however I cannot get it to see any folders at all. the path should be something like '/mnt/user/movies' (since that is the actual path) but it won't accept it at all it tells me there was an error adding the media path please ensure the path is valid and the emby server process has access to it. Don't have much hair left...lol Ice
