  1. i searched a bit and couldn't quite find anything resembling my question here....maybe i am not searching the right keywords but rather than spend the whole weekend looking this issue up i figured id just go ahead and post quick to see if i can get someone familiar with this to help out!! If i find something ill link it here and close the thread also I am trying to switch over my current PFsense dedicated box (an "old" gaming computer i had that i turned into a PFsense box) into an Unraid box, with a PFsense VM to route my network traffic, as i want to move some of my "monitoring" dockers (and some others) to this box instead of having them on either of my other 2 "main" unraid boxes, since when those boxes go down once in a while the monitoring goes with it and i dont get alerted... onto my problem! Unraid V: 6.11.3 The problem i am running into is if i take down the PFsense box, i loose internet. So i go to install unraid and get it setup but cant start the array because there is "no valid key"...but i have no internet to get a key until i get the PFsense box running on unraid. The trial REQUIRES you to have internet access to validate it seems...and i cant get a key online it also seems, as I tried to get a key via my phone (because that's the only thing that has internet while the box is down) and just type it into the key area i can see in the unraid GUI, but the unraid site on my phone gives me an error when i go to buy saying try again from the unraid installation ***Just saw an email come through that i have an activation code from my purchase, BUT it says i have to type that into the unraid install, then activate it and get the registration code emailed to me....this will not solve my problem apparently as it wont connect to the internet until its set up*** so I am kinda stuck! i don't want to buy an internet router JUST to install unraid, but that seems like it might be the only option.....and that seems like a stupid and wasteful way of doing this lol. One thing i thought of was that I am booted into the unraid GUI, and i the board I am using has integrated WIFI.......SO i was wondering if there is any way to install something to use that on board Wifi to connect onto my mobile phone hotspot for the short duration to get a key and then set everything up???? That seems like IMO the best way to figure this out aside from just being able to get an unraid key from the website....which i wonder if that will even work if it has to "phone home" to verify the key??? Any help is greatly appreciated!! also if this HAS been answered somewhere i missed please shoot me a link to it!! Ill also link it here!
  2. has anyone actually figured this out that couldn't? seems like its been mentioned a few times here that cant get it to load because it forwards to HTTPS, and either ignored or followed up by an explanation that really doesn't solve the issue for someone from the outside looking at this thread lol. I have tried google and forums for literally hours tonight to get this running.....and have had no luck at all. The best attempt i believe i have made based on everything i have seen, is I tried adding the -e "HTTPS=OFF" to the extra parameters field in the advanced view when you create the docker......and still cannot access the interface on port 8280..... I noticed when i start or update the container i notice in the "command:" field its putting it at the end, just before the Repository, but in the instructions it says to place it before the image name and i cannot figure out how to accomplish that.... Any help would be great!! ****UPDATE**** so i have NO clue what i did....i was messing around with this some more and was able to get in... i updated unraid today to 6.9.2, updated all containers and tried to access again with the same setup i had before....no luck.... for whatever reason (i had tried this before with no luck) i tried to assign an SSL cert to the "mail.mydomain.com" via my nginx container, that didn't work immediately, so i hail mary'd and deleted the "-e "HTTPS=OFF"" variable and bam....works!! No real clue why but maybe this will help someone else!!
  3. Hey all, i am trying to setup Unraid on an HP DL160 G5 for my office, as a cheap file server (yes its old, but it's a server i picked up basically for free last year for my personal rack, and never used until now that i need a small server for file sharing at my office) I am not sure that the issue i am having is an Unraid issue, or an installing on an OLD Hp server issue lol. Any help is appreciated. When i try and install, i have my USB created via the install tool, adjusted BIOS to run USB as #1 in the boot order, ive set the USB as FORCED-FDD and to AUTO so far, both have the same issue down the line. I then F10 to save and reboot but when i get to the boot screen it asks to "F10 for ROM based setup utility" which just goes back to the BIOS boot manager and "F12 for PXE boot" if i F12, or if i choose nothing and let it time out it ends up just sitting there and a little underscore flashes in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I let it sit for like a half hour thinking maybe it was just taking a bit. but nothing happened... There are 4 USB mounts on the server, and I have tried every one with the install media ( 2 in front 2 in back), I remade the install media as well, and remade again to install with UEFI too. everything seems to come up with the same hangup. I feel like there is a deeper issue, again probably not UNriad but wondering if anyone has any solutions? just for reference its got Dual Intel Xeon E5430 2.66GHz Quad-Core CPU's, 32GB ram, and 4 x 2TB Hard drives I really want to try and save this thing from having to scrap it for parts (if i cant get it to work with unraid at my office i sure aint using it at home lol) so any help at all would be great!!
