    But dont overstress the low temps of my sample. Its winter, so the room behind the garage is rather cold. In summer it can go >30° and cpu is around 40-50°.

    First Ryzen build and new to UnRaid

    Hi, I am in a similar situation as Neuromancer!! I want to build a new Unraid Server to replace my very old Unraid AMD Phenom II rig with a Ryzen 2700 !!!  I will be using mostly as a media server for Plex and the usual Sab, Radarr, Sonnar, Couch and a very few other dockers like Zerotier, and I will have a W10 Gaming VM!!  My question is: can I use only 1 GPU for the VM and Unraid?  I have read that I need 2 GPU one for Unraid and the other for the VM!! Can somebody help clarify the GPU situation in Ryzen? I know that the Ryzen 2xxxx family doesn't have an integrated GPU!!.  I will be using a GTX1060 with passthrough to the gaming  VM. The VM will not be used all the time!!,  just when Gaming, and I always configure Unraid headless via web interface from another machine in the network!! I am deciding on an ASUS Prime X470-Pro AM4 or GIGABYTE AORUS GA-AX370-Gaming 5  Does the difference from the X470 vs the X370 chipset will be a major factor?   Hope can someone share light on this!!  Thanks!!

    What I did was got a Raspberry Pi and install SoftEther VPN server https://www.softether.org/  SO I can connect to the Raspberry in my case via OpenVPN with a mac using Tunnelblick but you can use the OSX L2TP connection also!! ( if you use the L2PT you can use it with iPhone, Android or any client!! It even have his own DDNS built in!!!  So when I connect to the Pi I see the computers and devices on my home network as a local user!! I can even connect to my Sonos speakers and play music away from home!!! Hope it helps!!

    Replace Disable Emulated Drive ?

    Ok so I just Got a replacement 3 TB disk to put it in the array to replace the disabled disk!! So my Plan is to rebuild the current 3TB with a new 3TB disk, then upgrade the parity to the a new 8TB.  So my question now is How Do I replace the disks with a new 8TB and a new 6TB and copy all the data these drives and migrate from reiserfs to XFS?  I am currently using 3 3TB disk in reiserfs and almost full!! the array is 90% full. With the new configuration I will have a 8TB parity drive, one 8TB and one 6TB for the array plus the same cache disk I am using that is 500GB.  Thanks!!

    Replace Disable Emulated Drive ?

    Hi I am running Unraid 6.3.5 with 3 3TB drives a 3TB parity and 500B cache, and on friday I got an error and a disk was disable!! I did a fast smart check and the result was no erros!!  So I open the computer and check cables and connections, then I tried to replace the drive with the same by  reassign it by deassign it an assign it after a array stop.  It start to rebuilding the drive but after 60% I got read erros!! So ok not big deal!! this is a 6 year old drive time to change it!  

    My question is about replacing the disable drive!! I currently have 2 6TB and 2 8TB drives to be used as replacements drives!!

    I know that I cant replace the disable drive with a larger one!!  But what I need to do to replace the Parity Drive and don't lose data while I have a disable drive that it is emulated?  My Goal is to replace the Parity with a 8TB drive and replace the disable drive with another 8TB and replace another 3TB with a 6TB?? Also in the process I would like to change all my drives from reiserfs to XFS(the drives are from a original Unraid 5 build and upgraded to 6) What I nned to to to be able to accomplish this?

     

    Any help with this would be very appreciated!!!  I had this Unraid server running since 2012 and this is my first problem!! and it just a old bad disk!! very impressed with the sytem!! I have accesses to all my files but there are emulated!!

    OK I just install V6 on a new USB drive with a Plus license!! I installed a few plugins and the system is running just fine Btu I haven't started the array yet!!

    Can I just re assigned the old drives in the new disk # (old disk1=Seagate 3T new disk1=same Seagate3T) and it will just be fine?

    What about the cache drive since I am going to do a fresh install, It is better to back up all old data apps folder(that's the only data that I have in the cache)  and reformat the cache drive in XFS and create a new cache only folder and use the existing apps data?

    How about the user shares? I only have one user share with sub folders for Movies and TV Shows. Can I just set a new user share with the same name and it will behave like the old configuration? 

    This questions are not address in the linked guide!! I just want to know if I assigned the new drives in V6 it will work just like v5 and will no loose data!!

    Hi I am currently Running UR5 wand want to upgrade to Unraid 6 to be able to use Dockers!! My main apps are PlexServer, Sickbrad, Couch, Sab and Sonarr I have a new USB Drive with a new and different plus Key!! My setup consist on 3 3TB Data Drives a 3TB Parity and a 500GB Cache Drive.  The Plan that I have is to set up a new Fresh Unraid 6.0.1 in the new USB drive but I want to use all the current configuration from the old UR5!  in the cache drive a have a cache only folder with all the Apps folders separately. 

     

    What I need to do to be able to not touch the current data Drives files and be able to use the current Data with the new Dockers Apps?  Can I just re assigned the current disks and Unraid 6 will read them just fine?  Do I need to create a new User Share just like the old Unraid5 setup and the new setup will continue to use that structure?  Or it would be better to just Upgrade with the current USB and clean all the plugins and add the new dockers containers? 

     

    Any help will be very appreciated!!

    If Somebody Can help me!! :D  I am running Unraid 5.0.5 With Phazed SAB, PLEX, SICK, COUCH Plug Ins!! the NAS is been running fine for about a year now!!

     

    I want to Upgrade to Unraid 6 and use Docker for all my apps!!! I currently have 3 Media Drives a Cache and a Parity Drive!! I store all the apps in the cache drive in cache only share!  And use the cache drive for my primary Share that is configure like this:  /mnt/user/Unraid/Movies

                                                                            /TV Shows

                                                               

    What I need to do to upgrade to Unraid 6 and use Dockers in the Cache Drive and have all my current app data and configuration?  Can I use the current PLEX, SICK, COUCH, SAB preferences in the new Dockers containers?

     

    Right now all my downloads are from Sab and I have Sickbeard and Couch feeding the downloads from a complete downloads folder in the Sab app foulder!  What are the steps or paths configurations to keep all at is it? 

     

    It is OK to upgrade or it is better to just start from scratch?  Any Suggestion is Welcome!!!  I am been using Unraid since 5 beta 4 and it been Working very Good for me!!

    I already have a good Plex server, how about an OwnCloud example?

     

    I will probably make a video soon (possibly tomorrow) that will explain how to set up any docker you want.

    New Cache Drive Sleep and Mover Settings

    Hi I just installed a new Cache Drive to my Unraid 5 Box and I have a few questions!  I use my Unraid box exclusively  as a Media Server, I have Couch, Sab, Sickbead, NZBdrone and Plex all running fine and all it is working as expected. 

    The main reason I added a cache drive is to be able to sleep the Server by itself whenever it can when not in use! previously a had all the apps in the array and the Server will never sleep by itself I had to sleep it manually. Now with all the apps in the cache drive it goes to sleep at the specified minutes in the settings!! Previously I had to wake the server via an app WOL whenever I needed to download the new TV series and sleep it manually also!  I rarely have the server awaken!! only when watching TV Series or Movies.

     

    My question is now that I have the Cache drive drive and it goes to sleep by itself when does the Mover Script does his thing?  I set in the settings to do it at 6 am in the thoughts the server will wake up do his thing and then go back to sleep but it did not happened!!  The server is sleeping 4 days in the week I only use it on weekends and a few days in the week!!  Can I use a command in the Sleep settings to whenever the server wakes up it activate the Mover Script? or Do I have to do it manually? Can I have like a schedule to wake the server run the Mover script and then he sleeps by itself? Hope anyone with this situation can help Me!!

    Thanks for all the help!!! checked the Go file and indeed it was pointing to port 90  ???  change back to 80, restarted and Everything is back to normal!! Thanks again for all suggestions!! Great community!! :D

    Thanks all for the Help!! taking doorunrun suggestion on scanning the the open ports I saw that port 90 was open so I entered: ip_address:90 and to my surprise I GOT THE GUI!!  ???  So for some reason I changed(I don't know how or if I really did it) the default port of 80 to 90  ??? ???  So now I can access the GUI just fine but on port 90!! How do I change it back to port 80? and How it is possible that I changed or Unraid change it by itself?  Thanks for the help I can live with port 90 But it is weird how it changed?

    You might want to look into scanning the ports of your unRAID server. I'm on a Linux guest and use the program nmap for simple scanning. If you have a Mac, there's a port scanner built-in. You should be looking to see if port 80 on the unRAID server is active. UnMenu uses another port, 8080; and the plugins use different ports. I didn't see anything wrong in your posted "safe-mode" syslog.

     

    It's obvious that some changes were made between yesterday and today either on your unRAID box or your network to make the GUI accessibility stop. The trick is to figuring it out. Your signature says you are running Dynamix which I think is a replacement for the stock GUI. I'm not sure if that could be the issue.

     

    Hopefully you can retrace your steps to unmask the issue.

     

    Thanks doorunrun for your suggestions!! The wierd things is that in safe mode the Dynamix plug in is disable as all others plugins and I still can't get to the GUI!! I am linux newbie How can open or close a port in Unraid?  Is there a utility for that?  I used the mac port scanner an I didn't saw port 80 listed in there but all the others like 8080(UnMenu) was listed!!  Thanks again for the help!!

    Hi to all since this morning I have strange problem with my Unraid setup!!  yesterday I was able to access the Unraid with the direct ip in the browser but Now I can't!! I was on 5.04 and today I upgraded to 5.0.5 and still no access!!  I am able to access the Unraid Menu via UnMenu Unraid Main link!!  I tried another computer,iPhone,iPad no luck!!!  All my plugins and apps are working fine!! I have Dynamix, Plex, Couch, Sab and Sickbeard all running just fine!!! I even tried rebooting in Safe Mode with No plugins and have same problem!! No access directly only via Unmenu Link!!  I checked the log but really I don't understand many of the things in there!!  I Did notice that when I rebooted the machine and didn't start the array I get a multiple Looping entries in the Log!!  but when I start the array it stop!!  I can Telnet and access the share on the computer with no problem it just that I can get to the GUI!! I have attached the syslog.txt any ideas??

    Sure I read and listen to the feedback, and when it turns out things don't work as expected, hey - they can be changed.

     

    At the moment I am doing point updates and at the speed of a Formula 1 racecar, as compared to the other webGui's.

     

     

    Hi bonien!!  First TAHNKS for all the great work with Dynamix!! it is Great!!  I know the tabs approach is a good one, BUT for the main page I would like to have all the options in one page!! I said this because I 90% of time I use my iphone to sleep the server manually!!  With the old design I could get to see how full are disk and more important the temperatures!! I live in Puerto Rico and in here it is very warm and hot!! and I always but to sleep the array when not in use to not overheat the drives!!!!  Like I said being a iPhone user the tabs are very small and is easily missed by my finger!!!  I know you are doing this on spare time and I THANK YOU for all your effort and contributions to this community!! But not everyone is using a computer to get to the GUI and for the MAIN page the tabs are just to small and don't have all the information I need!!  Thanks again for your time and Support!!

    That is the default schedule...
    But what happens if the server is sleeping at the time it is suppose to move the files?
    Nothing happens.  The files do not get moved.
    does they move when the server is waken up?
    No, they would move the next night at the same time as usually scheduled.
      My question is because I regurlay keep the server at sleep for a few days and wake it up only when I want to wacht a movie or TV series.
    Then you should schedule the mover for a time other than in the middle of the night, otherwise, files will never move. Or, click on the move-now button.

    3. Does the files downloaded from sickbeard-Sabnzb also goes to the cache drive?  or it will download directly to the array?

    No way for us to know.  It is something YOU configure on your server.

    The array drives would most likely spin down, but the server will not go into a "sleep" mode most likely.

     

    I am noobe Unraid user!! How can I put all my apps in a folder in the cache drive so the mover script DOES NOT move the files?  I need to use a folder like .apps and in there I put the files or there's a way to use a regular folder without the . at the beginning?  I want to be able to view the files from my computer and not have to show invisible files all the time!!
