  1. OH MY GOSH aos saving me again watch this video, solved my problem: Summary: 1. Get lsiutil (good samaritan hosted here: https://github.com/thomaslovell/LSIUtil/), (and save to unraid) 2. ./lsiutil -s to show all devices If you see "SAS2308's links are off, off, off, off, off, off, off, off", keep going! (this is bad) 3. select your device with ./lsutil -p 2 -e (mine is on port 2, my internal card is port 1) 4. 68 shows port state summary, look for these problematic settings: "port stat off, off, off" (bad, as above) Link Enabled: No (bad) SSP Target Enabled: No (bad) 5. 61 sets default values, then 68 to view port state again. this enables the links, but port state will still show "off, off, off" because you need to reset to take effect 6. 99 to reset the chip, then 68 to check that ports with plugs in em say "6.0 G" (connection speed) and if disconnected say "down" -- not "off"! Once I did this, my plugged-in drives immediately appeared in UD!
  2. OK still digging on this, I bought an external cable that allows me to connect directly to the HBA with known SATA drives (am powering separately, they do spin up), but still see nothing in syslog or unassigned devices . . .starting to think my card just doesn't work
  3. OK I think that's pretty much everything! As far as I can tell, only data loss I can detect is maybe one or two folders (one season of a show, which DVD I still have). Thanks so much for walking me through all these steps. Gonna do a quick write up on what I think went wrong and summary of the steps I took with everyone's guidance.
  4. sorry im still confused - my goal is to merge all these files back into their place. in dynamix file manager, i can't create folders (at least not in the disk view), and when i move folders from /mnt/disk3/lost+found/ to /mnt/disk3/ , they do appear in the shares (/mnt/user/) , but not in smb (so i can open and verify their contents, then put everything where it belongs). should i be creating folders in /mnt/disk3 that match the other shares?
  5. OK, that makes sense. the only thing I'm not sure of is when there isn't already a root folder in disk3 - e.g., there's no disk3/tv right now.
  6. I think I understand. Since I'm trying to restore data that was previously in the array, the files copied back to disk3 are now split, and I want to put them back -- here's an example: Some of my shares: /tv /movies /mac (lots of project folders) And restored files from pool "two", copied back to disk3: disk3/lost+found/123456/s01/episode.mkv - "123456" is actually "Look Around You", and those files belong under /tv. disk3/lost+found/123456/project - /project belongs under /mac But I dont want to mix disk files with share files, right? So if I move all the files from disk3/lost+found into root disk3, they'll show as shares (disk>disk), then I should be able to safely rearrange files as needed from /mnt/share/.
  7. So my general procedure should be: 1. Move files from /mnt/disk3/lost+found/dir/files --> /mnt/disk3/ [DISK to DISK] Some are orphaned files, and some map to existing shares. Unraid should automatically resolve the existing shares, and create new shares for the orphaned directories. 2. Move files from /mnt/user/share/dir into the correct file [SHARE to SHARE]
  8. Thanks for all your help so far. I used Dynamix to copy lost+found folder from 450gb to 900gb disk3- is there anything special I need to do to pull the files back into the shares? For example, inside /lost+found, there are dirs like /3d, /project, like you'd normally have such directories across multiple disks. If I move these folders into the root dir on disk3, will unraid find them?
  9. understood - i got my pfsense vm rebuilt last night, so Internet is back! i can get Dynamix File Manager installed
  10. ok so the next steps are just manually moving the files? didn't want to do anything in case any other unraid operations could get messed up if i move things
  11. reading through the xfs repair doc, it looks like my next step is to copy directories and files manually, and whatever didn't rebuild, is orphaned. i gather that since parity was lost (when i formatted the 900gb disk3 replacement), i can't rebuild data that was originally on 450gb disk3 (standing by)
  12. this matches up with the disk utilization i had before
  13. oh but inside each numbered dir is the folders i recognize, plus a bunch of files with just numbers
  14. it mounted! contents look like: /lost+found/1252945
  15. only took a few sec, here's the final output:
