Armin_F
Hello everyone, I woke up to my parity being disabled and one of the disks is missing. I am not sure what this is due to. Before I went to bed, it was working just fine and woke up to this. In the Identification field, I can see the HDD of the parity, but it's disables. Disk 3 says no device. Any help would be really appreciated. tower-diagnostics-20210121-0909.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Diags are after rebooting so not much to see, but since parity is disable see if you can get disk3 back, replace/swap cables and try again. Quote Link to comment
Armin_F
I've tried replacing and swapping the cables. Still same problem. I think it might be an issue with the Sata Port on the motherboard. When I replace it with a working HDD then it works. I just don't know how this would have happened. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Just now, Armin_F said: swapping the cables. Not clear by your answer if you swap cables does the problem follow the drive or stay with port/cable? Quote Link to comment
Armin_F
If I swap the cables then it follows the other drive yes. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
So you need to get another board or controller and then re-sync parity, you can't rebuild the missing disk with parity disable. Quote Link to comment
Armin_F
Any suggestions on good controllers? I have a poweredge T410 desktop server. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
How many ports do you want/need? Quote Link to comment
Armin_F
I think 4 would be good enough. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Look for Asmedia 1064/1164 or the 5 port JMB585. Quote Link to comment
