New Server but with Existing Data

Featured Replies

My friend wants to buy my unRAID setup including the License/USB.

I will be giving him everything except the HDD drives. I want to create a fresh new install of unRAID but keep all my existing Data that's on the array. I would prefer to transfer all the VM, Docker, Drives, Cache, Shares etc to the new setup so its like I never changed. Keeping the data on my drives is more important than the VM/Docker stuff. I will have a new license and flash drive for the install.

Basically a new install of unRAID with old data. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Yes, copy super.dat to keep the disk assignments, or just re-assign them to the original slots and check "parity is already valid", dockers are easy to keep if you use the same paths, VMs might need some more changes, especially if passing-through hardware.

Keep in mind that you will still be the "owner" of the license, as Limetech does not allow transfers. If your friend has issues with the license key you will need to handle that.

It would be much better to let your friend buy their own license, that way they don't have to rely on you to contact Limetech for them.
