Imovie/Iphoto shares?

Featured Replies

For those who you Mac programs like Imovie and I photo and such how did you set up your user shares? Did you create a new share for the events and projects and then just point I movie to them? Also what split level and allocation method did yo use? If there is a better way to do this Im all ears.

Maybe I should rephrase my question. For those who use I movie and I photo and store the events and projects folder else where. How and where did you do. It I want to create user shares for unraid.

I don't do this, but if your editing video you will get best performance by connecting your workstation directly to the unRAID server. You can share the server when your not editing and turn off sharing before you edit. I did a test a few years ago with two workstations connected back to back with no switch/router in between. TCP transfers from RAM to RAM averaged 117Mbps over Gig-E. Your transfer speeds will be slower when using a file system.

Ah that would make sense. Did you use a cross over cable? Maybe I should stick with copying the raw movie into unraid then import it into I movie then edit it and save the final copy back to a different share in unraid.

I meant to say 117MBps.

The Ethernet ports were self configuring so it had the same effect as a crossover cable.

Yes, copying the file locally for editing and then storing back on the server will be fastest and improve workflow. As long as the file is small enough to be stored locally.
