February 25, 201115 yr The GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P is awesome for the 4224. 8 onboard SATA and 2 SASLP cards gets you 24. HPA is disabled by default. If you can pick one up cheaply, a good option. HPA on my board was definitely enabled by default. Interesting. Mine is Rev 1.6, latest firmware, and it is disabled by default. My board is a P35-DS3L with F9 BIOS, the most recent. I didn't even see an option to disable HPA until I flashed to the new BIOS. Man, seems like there's no rhyme or reason why some boards have HPA enabled by default while others don't.
