ShadowLeague
I'm considering building a backup system for my current unRAID setup. I've seen systems with 3GBps hardware; I thought about buying them since I think I could save some money vs 6 or 12GBps systems. Transfer speed wouldn't matter all that much since the backups would be a differential (what I added from last backup). Yes; the initial backup would be slow... In short, why else would I not want to go with a system that is 3Gbps for the drives? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
3Gbps is fine for hard drives, just be aware that some 3Gbps hardware is limited to 2TiB max capacity, e.g., LSI SAS HBAs and SAS expanders. Quote Link to comment
ShadowLeague
Great point; totally forgot about the 2TB max capacity Quote Link to comment
