Adding Hard Drives and Pre Clear already have errors.

Ok got the new controller and installed it. Added those two new drives and they install fine. Also moved drive 3 to a different SATA slot. During the auto pre-clear it did have a CRC error on one of the new drives; so I cleared it. It's been formatted and up and running for 3-4 days now. I even stopped the array like last time and then restated it and everything looks perfect. No errors what so ever. I DID not change any of the cables I wanted to see if the card was my problem and that bad SATA port. You said that I was getting intermittent disconnects from drive 3. Here is my log I was wondering if you could look at it and see if there are anymore of those interrupts? Or show me an example of what I should be looking for so I can diagnose my own logs...just like my proctologist does.

There are still some ATA errors on disk3, you should replace cables, everything else looks fine so far.

Ok so I switched all the Mini SAS to SATA cables and now I have disk 5 diabled!! So I turned off the server and switched it to a different position and restarted. Still disabled. I turned it off again and switched it to a different level all together that is controlled by the new LSI card and has a mini sas to mini sas and restarted and it's still disabled.

Once a drive is disabled do I need to re-enable it before using it again??? How do I do that?

Yes, unassign disk, start/stop array, re-assign disk and start array, but only rebuild on top if the emulated disk is mounting and contents look correct.

Ok so there's no way to just re-enable it without rebuilding it?

If that's the case then something went wrong, right? It didn't just not find that disk missing?

There's is but you'll need to do a parity check, it will take as long.
