I just purchased MD1500 server and installed four 750 GB hard drives. During initial configuration the server abruptly stopped because temp of hard drives went  above 55C. The fans were dismounted apparently. Once I fixed that, temp issue was solved. But when I first started server, there was a format command, which I cant see anymore, however it went through whole cycle of initial config and it says Parity valid, and is showing free space on all 4 hard drives, so I'm assuming hard drives got formatted.

Other problem I'm having is I cant see the hard drives from my main desktop. The server is connected to the network via wireless ethernet adapter. I can use web based utility and start /stop hard drives from my desktop. I also see Media server tower in my "My workgroup computers". But in my network places I cant see any hard drives. Even when I click on tower in "work group computers" , I get a message that network path is not valid/ I don't have permission to access the tower. What am I doing wrong , can someone please help.

Thanks

Make sure in the web interface that you are EXPORTING READ/WRITE either the diskshares (individual disks) or usershares (which are virtual disks and can span multiple disks).

Also try accessing it by IP address like this ->  \\ipaddress\disk1 and see if it's accessible. I pretty much access mine with UNC naming like this all the time...
