Intel NUC and 2 internal drives (1xM.2 NVMe + 1 2,5"SSD)

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I'am totally newbie regarding Unraid. I have intel Nuc with 2 internal drives (1 x M.2 NVMe 1TB + 1 x SATA 2,5" SSD 1 TB) and there is no option (as far as I know) to add more (internal) drives. I would like to use this Nuc as a home server (docker with containers such as Home Assistant, Mosquito, deconz, etc. (mostly smart home related) + Plex. I just want to ask if that make any sense and if yes, what is the best configuration with those two drives. Additional question is can I use external hard drive as a storage just for movies (I don't need to backup them)?

It's not ideal, but some here make it work. The biggest issue is adding storage, as you know. USB drives, while supported, are highly discouraged in the parity array because of connection stability issues.

There have been several discussions about NUC's recently, search the forum and I'm sure you'll find what you need.
