March 20, 201115 yr So I created an unRaid machine starting with 1 disk and enabled user shares, adding 1 user share labeled "BluRay Movies." I recently added a parity disk and another data disk. How do I get unRaid to split my BluRay movie ISOs onto the other disk? Disk 1 is at 921,904,004/1,953,514,552 and Disk 2 is still empty at 1,953,422,088/1,953,514,552. User share is set to High Water and everything else is left blank. Right now the structure is as follows: - Disk 1 -BluRay Movies -Hulk.iso - Disk 2 Disk 2 doesn't show anything under it.
March 20, 201115 yr When you write to the share to settings will be honored. Existing content is not effected by share settings. Make sure the min free space setting is set to a value larger than the largest file that you'll ever write. In version 4.7 the units fro min free space is in kilobytes (KB).
March 20, 201115 yr unRaid will not move any existing data for you. Only new data copied to the User Share will be split among disk1 and disk2, honoring your High Water setting and minimum free space settings.
March 20, 201115 yr High-Water means disk1 will fill until it has less than half of the disk size free, or less than 1,953,514,552 / 2 free space. Add some more files and the next disk will start to be used. This should make the allocation methods clearer; http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Allocation_method Don't worry about using the next disk. It will get to it when the time is right. There is no good reason to always spread the files out evenly between the disks and high-water works fine. However, if you just must have the disks fill evenly then try the fill-up method. Peter
