SOLVED: rm -rf command returns: cannot remove 'directory_name': Directory not empty

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a shared folder containing 1 folder which contains 1 folder and so on up to 4 levels.

I tried everything I know to remove the share and also the folder.

Each time I tried I got the message

"Directory is not empty"

What I already tried:

- Delete the folder folder in the chain (level 1) with rm -rf folder_name

- Delete the last folder in the chain (level 4) with rm -rf folder_name

- List the content of each folder with ln -la. Empty except the subfolder

- Rename the folder. Rename works but still get the message.

- Limit the share to only 1 disk

- Check the disk for errors => no errors

General Info:

- Unraid

- Linux 5.10.28-Unraid x86_64

- File system: XFS
