December 8, 20214 yr I had a rather old (6 years) 4TB WD Red that kept having read errors so decided to replace it with new WD Gold 8TB. Stopped the array and removed the 4TB disk without issue. Started the array with missing disk. Couldn't get the array to stop again so that I could assign the new disk. Just kept retrying to stop disk shares. Rebooted the array into safe mode (seemed like a good idea) to get out of the loop and assigned the new drive. Now I'm in an extended data rebuild on the new disk and wondering if it's safe to boot back into normal mode or better to wait until the rebuild is finished?

December 8, 20214 yr Author Knew that was the right answer. Don't know why I even posted the question.😄
December 8, 20214 yr Author Is there a better way to get out of a loop like that? Will unRAID eventually timeout and stop trying to stop the array?
