December 11, 20214 yr Hello, I have a unraid server with currently 32gb ( 2x Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CRC ) of ram memory. I am in need of extra ram ( preferably to 64gb) but it seems the current ram sticks are unavailable in most shops. One local shop gave me the following options: - 2x Samsung M391A4G43AB1-CVF 32gb sticks - 4x Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CTD 16gb sticks Whats is the difference between my current M391A2K43BB1-crc and the other CTD type? Can i mix these CTD type with my current CRC type memory, preventing the need to buy 4 sticks? The shop tells me not to mix with my old memory and i think i would follow them but it would be a waste of money if there is nog a valid reason for it. Or are there other options? Between these 2 options, what is the better? Thank you all for helping.

I just downloaded the datasheet, am I right the only difference between CRC and ctd type is the frequency difference 2400 Vs 2666? The datasheet does indeed state they are backwards compatible. Quote PB(2133Mbps 15-15-15)/RC(2400Mbps 17-17-17)/TD(2666Mbps 19-19-19) - DDR4-2666(19-19-19) is backward compatible to lower frequency.
December 11, 20214 yr You need to look at the complete model, but as long as the speed is the same or higher than your CPU supports and it's the same type of RAM, in this case ECC UDIMM, they will work, slower would also work but it would downgrade performance.
