No display output after boot

Featured Replies

Hello all

Just upgraded my Unraid server from a B365M board + 9400 to z590 + 10400 (needed more expansion and made sense to update platform at the same time)

All changed over pretty smoothly but iv got an issue when i boot i get display output right through the boot process to the point it would normally drop you at the login terminal but instead display just switches off.

Using the iGPU, had i915 blacklisted but removed that with no change
Not a big deal just seems strange and cant think of what might be causing it.

any suggestions?

thanks

Search community apps for intel gpu top and install.

echo "blacklist i915" > /boot/config/modprobe.d/i915.conf

Got that installed, no change but not rebooted yet

but i noticed its reporting "intel-gpu-top: Intel Cometlake (Gen9) @ /dev/dri/card0"

Does 10th gen report as 9th gen? or is something broken having come from 9th gen?

You will need to reboot for the i915 module to be loaded correctly.

rebooted, still no output and still reporting as 9th gen with intel_top_gpu

do you see the cursor in top left corner?

Try this but shouldnt need if using intel gpu top.  Which vers are you running and is i915 blacklisted ?

You can also try to:

Press CTRL+ALT+F1 this should bring you back to the command line

Log in with your root user and password

Then type in 'modprobe i915' (without quotes)

Then type in '/etc/rc.d/rc.4' (without quotes)

Nah no video signal at all once booted

6.9.2 and yea i915 is blacklisted

only wanting command line too, not trying to get a GUI loaded.

Just strange haha

Try a different output (if possible) from the motherboard.

Yeah strange. Guessing is not just gone into screen save mode? Anything in the logs?
