Can i use DDR3 vbios for DDR5 gpu?

Featured Replies

I am trying to passthrough an Asus GT730 and need the vbios for it.

The model i am using is GT730-SL-2GD5BK. The only vbios i can find is for the older Asus GT730 model with DDR3.
Will this still work?

Edit: Dumped the vbios for my GPU using a user script.

This is the best choice you have.

Probably it would fail, one of the things to consider when you use a different vbios is to use one with the exact same memory.

If one wants to try with a downloaded vbios, a general thing to do is to search for 'unverified bios' in techpowerup: the search will show a lot more results.

For example this:

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/194439/194439

has gddr5.
