  1. Update: Im not really sure if my vbios was corrupted or something, but after generating a new one, and passing it through, the VM took control of the GPU. So thnak you for the help!
  2. I believe you are right, as the monitor displays the unRaid command line interface indefinitely regardless of the vfio stating its taken over or not. Sadly passing the vBIOS doesnt work either, so im wondering if maybe this is just an NVIDIA thing? I know in the past that NVIDIA gpu were hit or miss with passthrough if they were the only card present, i just figured that would have been fixed by now. Idk where to go from here really except buying a 2nd gpu sadly
  3. well its still using it at boot to display unraid terminal and wont let me use it for VM so im confused.
  4. Okay, it appears if though unraid believes its binding it, but then doesnt bind it...
  5. The only option i see there is to select both the vga and audio and "Bind Selected to VFIO at Boot". Would that not force unRaid to use it on boot?
  6. I am currently working on passingthrough a GT 730 and having trouble getting unRaid to stop using it. I have previously passed through this gpu without any vbios or issues, but that was with x2 GPU installed. I know it is possible to stop unraid from binding the GPU on boot but it doesnt seem to be working. What am I doing wrong? syslinux config: kernel /bzimage append vfio-pci.ids=10de:1287,10de:0e0f pcie_override=downstream,multifunction initrd=/bzroot
  7. I live with my wife, and three bestfriends/roommates in Texas USA. Its unbearably hot year round and i want a server solution to end our heating problems once and for all. We are all planning to pitch in, and i have experience with virtualization, linux, gpu passthrough, and unraid already but dont know enough about PCIe bandwidth, latency over fiber data transfer, and AMD Epyc. Im hoping to gather more information and maybe CPU and motherboard recommendations to start the planning phase of this endeavor. Some things id like to know: Is Threadripper limited in bandwidth enough to where 5 systems running the following specs would be bottlenecked/impossible? 10 core max | 4 core min 64gb ram max | 16gb min 8tb ssd max | 1tb min RTX 3080 max | RTX 3060 min Heavy bandwidth USB bus powered interfaces for various streaming/creative workflows (ie: audio interface, mic preamp, elgato streamdeck, webcams, ect) Can any windows 10/11 vm's run on ring 0? If not, would it be better to build 5 individual computers in a rack and use fiber to transfer data to usb hubs? Asking for kernel level game anti-cheats like Valorant How is the latency on either a virtualized setup or multi rack mounted computers using fiber to transfer usb data? Will there be noticeable delay in games? Will it interfere with the speed at which functions of a macro provide over IFTTT or similar solutions? (ie: delay in activation) What is a good 32 core AMD Epyc cpu and motherboard for the 5 systems plus any additional fiber pcie cards needed for usb transfer? Amazon, Newegg, or any other US links would be appreciated but names alone will suffice
  8. When using VNC the windows 10 vm boots normally without issue. However when trying to passthrough my gt710 it gets on a loop of displaying the tianocore logo for 15sec, then showing no input on monitor, and then showing the tianocore logo again. I dumped the proper vbios and have both the gpu and gpu audio selected. the gpu is also in the 4th pcie slot and i have a different gpu in the 1st slot not currently being used for any sort of passthrough. What am i doing wrong?
  9. I am trying to passthrough an Asus GT730 and need the vbios for it. The model i am using is GT730-SL-2GD5BK. The only vbios i can find is for the older Asus GT730 model with DDR3. Will this still work? Edit: Dumped the vbios for my GPU using a user script.
  10. Trying to create a windows 10 VM and getting this page? Ive never seen this page and have no idea why its randomly appearing. Using unraid 6
  11. I recently upgraded my server hardware from a ryzen 5 to a threadripper. When i try to boot into unraid it goes straight to bios. however with windows installer it boots right into installer. Im unsure of what could be causing this issues as unraid was working fine before the upgraded hardware. Im not thinking this is any hardware related issue. Perhaps a bios setting? Any thoughts? Note: I am using all the same drives/hardware except for CPU and motherboard. I did also install a GPU so maybe that is conflicting? -Threadripper 3960X -ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme -WD SN550 1TB m.2 -Unraid usb
