June 1, 201115 yr A brownout would not cause a properly designed and built computer power supply to fail. It would maintain it's output voltages until the input voltage dipped so low that it just shut-down. Now, if the designer screwed-up the ability of the supply to handle under-voltage situations then strange things could occur that might damage the supply or the connected equipment. Peter
