[Solved] Question about ssmtp mail package and re-install on reboot

Featured Replies

Do the subsequent installs have to compile ssmtp or is it smart enough to just use the already compiled code from the first manual install?  If I don't have to have gcc run and compile ssmtp everytime that would be nice.

thanks,

dave

It is smart enough to not compile sine it is already compiled.

You do not need to install gcc every time.  It is,as you said, "smart enough" and "nice"

So if everything is gone ever reboot, then how is it that it only needs to compile once? Sorry if it is a silly question, trying to understand.

because the compiled version of ssmtp  is stored in a subdirectory on the flash drive under the packages directory.  It still needs to be moved into place each time you reboot, but if it exists, there is no need to compile it again.

Many thanks Joe L.!
