I have the allocation method set to most-free on my share, however data is still being written to the first disk in the array.  Obviously, this disk is does not have the least amount of free space.

 

Also, the issue appears to be intermittent.   Seems like a bug.  Running unraid version 6.9.2

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Most Free is the least efficient. 

 

And other settings can take precedence.

It is worth noting that Split Level takes precedence over Allocation method as described here in the online documentations accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI.   This probably explains what you are seeing?    If not then tell us the name of a share that you think is not behaving as expected so we know what to look for in the diagnostics.
