Deivian
First of all thank you all, I've been a few days taking notes based on the many threads around this topic and finally decided to write my one asking your your help/opinion. I'm thinking of replacing my QNAP TS451+ for something more powerful. I'ts been a loyal companion for a few years (around 6) but it's incapable of transconding 4k or handle hevc/h265 properly which is a little nightmare (this is the main usage). I have running serveral docker containers (radarr, homeassistant, torrentbox, pi-hole, etc), I use it as my TimeMachine backup system for the few macs are around, to share folders, etc. Having said that. I made a preselection of components which would like to hear from you if it's correct or should I change something. CPU: Intel Core i3-10105 3.7 GHz 107.20€ CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Alpine 12 LP 6.64€ Motherboard: ASRock B560M-ITX/ac Mini ITX122.96€ Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 71.06€ Storage: Samsung 980 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME 102.86€ Case: Fractal Design Node 804 131.57€ PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA GM 550 W 80+ Gold 108.27€ USB: SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 8.48€ For future storage expansion: Syba SI-PEX40057 4 Port SATA III PCIe 2.0 X2 Hyper Duo Raid Controller Card 47.72€ The grand total is ~650€ (my budget is around this number) I'm not including the HDD Storage because I will be using my 4x8TB Seagate Ironwolf and I do have another 4x3TB WD Red to expand but not right away. It's main use as I said will be Plex 4K streaming/transconding, using QuickSync, few docker containers and 2 or 3 VMs, share folders around the network and few backups and everything powered by unraid Something I'm trying to have in mind is the power consumption, If I'm not mistaken should be around ~30w in idle. Thank you all for your help Edited April 8, 2022 by Deivian Quote Link to comment

Beside being a RAID card, the SYBA controller you linked is based on a Marvell controller which have been problematic with Linux/unRAID. Quote Link to comment

You are right, my bad. 10 hours ago, Hoopster said: For better compatibility with unRAID, look for something from this list of controllers. If I understand correctly something like ASMedia 1064 should be ok, right? Apart from this. ¿Any other recomendations? Thank you both! Edited April 9, 2022 by Deivian Quote Link to comment

Yes, the ASMedia 1064 is a 4-port controller chip so any SATA HBA based on this chip should work well with unRAID. Avoid cards with port multipliers. Quote Link to comment
