6.10.3 HP DL380p - Buffer I/O error on /dev/sda1 after update from 6.10.2

Featured Replies

I updated today from 6.10.2 to 6.10.3 and received errors on sda1. I tried power cycling, cold power cycling, and multiple reboots with the same result.

A few weeks ago I had disabled vt-d because of the warnings in the community on 6.10.2 and corruption, especially with HP, but not specifically my model of server.

I enabled vt-d today after it failed to boot, not thinking it would do anything or be related because they really shouldn't have an effect on each other. I was able to boot cleanly after enabling vt-d though.

Leaving this here in case it helps someone else and there is the possibility this is a side effect of the vt-d code fixes in 6.10.3.

*Bonus note, the web interface and SMB browsing in 6.10.3 seems a lot faster, but I can't figure out why. I am using chrome and see the release notes for firefox compatibility, but I'll take it. Its nearly an instant response when switching between pages now when before there was a noticeable delay.

Thanks for posting, it is weird though.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm getting the same thing, I can get it to boot if I do a full power down wait 30 sec then plug back in. But if I reboot from the gui it just hangs here forever and if I hit enter to reboot as it says it again just does the same thing. Or it'll not even detect the usb any more. I've tried every bloody bios setting imaginable even tried switching back from uefi to legacy with no joy. Running 6.10.3

That looks slightly different. Try moving the USB drive to another port.
