Featured Replies

So I was on vacation and when i came back my server was showing errors on 1 drive and unmountable on another - I restarted and the errors on the other drives disappeared but disk 14 has an error unmontable wrong or no file system but when i put the server online the disk still showed up as an available - not as an emulated disk

Disk14 disabled and unmountable. It was already unmountable when you booted.

Looks like a connection problem with disk5. You need to fix that before atttempting to do anything with the disabled disk14 since all disks are involved in emulating the disabled disk.

Marvell controllers are not recommended, and RAID controllers are not recommended

Unrelated, but why are you installing so much of Nerdpack? I recommend only installing from Nerdpack those things you use regularly.

You should also replace the SATA cable for disk2, it's detecting CRC errors.

ok thanks for the help - I removed the 6tb drive and replaced the drive with another 18TB and started reconsctruction - this will run for another 5-10 hours

I've removed the 6 TB from the arrays and started data-rebuild, the drive shows as DEV 1

here's the started diagnostics

Are you sure dis14 was ever formatted?

  • Author

I installed the disk14 18 tb has a replacement for the 6tb that was saying it was defective - then let it recover

the 6tb is now seen in unassigned device as dev1 and was previously formatted with xfs and usage was about 90%

Then probably something went wrong with the rebuild, do you still have the old disk?

  • Author

yes the old disk as stated above is :

I can't see unassinged devices number in the diags, but since there's only one unassigned disk I assume it's the 6TB Seagate, if yes the disk looks OK, so just mount it UD and if all looks good format disk 14 and copy the data over.
