Generic Cache Pools -> Disk Array -> Mover question.

Featured Replies

So I have bad luck with traditional drives, just had two wd shucked 8 tb red drives go bad that were only a few years old.

Could I just create a SSD and NVME pool, and just have the mover run manually as to not use those mechanical drives other than to backup the data on those two pools? Would those drives keep spinning when the mover is finished or will unraid spin those down?

You set up the spin down timeout in the disk settings, if nothing accesses them they'll stop after that. My array's all in standby at the moment.

The mover... moves things, so once they're moved if they're needed the drives will have to spin up. So it seems you don't want to use the mover, just run everything off the cache and run a backup process towards the array, luckybackup can do that for you for example.

awesome thank you so much Kilrah. Much appreciated! I know I would probably be better off running a flavor of linux and docker, but the gui and everything of unraid (and community) is just to good to pass up. again, thank you!
