Problem with QEMU 6.2.0 and the -acpitable argument.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I hope this is the best place to post issue, although it appears to a bug. Its with QEMU not Unraid.

But I'm hoping someone can help me out   :)

I just upgraded my Unraid server from 6.9.2 to 6.10.3, and all was well until I tried to start some older Windows VM's which are using the '-acpitable' argument in the .xml files.

On start I get this error:

ERROR:../hw/acpi/aml-build.c:61:build_append_padded_str: assertion failed: (len <= maxlen)

After a google search I found this page:

https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues/786

Which appears to have a solution to the error.

My problem is, I have no idea what Igor Mammedov's solution says, does, or how to implement it.

Has anybody here got the skills to understand it and the crayons to explain it to me.   :$

Or is there a way to downgrade the version of QEMU that Unraid is using to QEMU 6.1.0, which doesn't have the issue.

Thanks in advance.
