6.10.3 - Docker Data Root Options

Featured Replies

After going through the Spaceinvader One video and Unraid guide on initial Docker setup, seems the options you can select within Docker data root are a newer feature.

Are there things to keep in mind why you would want to change the default data root form btrfs vDisk to one of the other two options (xfs vDisk / directory)?

Nope.  Its the same thing effectively, but without the size limitations imposed by having an image.

Only caveat per se is that if you ever run the New Permissions tool against that folder you will have trashed the "image" and will need to delete / reinstall

Hello,

when I already have an docker.image can I switch to "directory" and my docker containers still work?

To answer (and a warning)

Yes changing this setting empties the dockers list, and requires you to add all the dockers.

  • So first take a screenshot/note of the dockers page so you know what to add afterwards.
  • Then stop the docker service, change the "Docker data-root" setting, start the docker service.
  • When installing, you can use Apps > Previous Apps to quickly find them.
