July 29, 20223 yr i have two ssds, which are 1t both. i want to setup these two ssd as one disk (eg disk1) for storing "appdata" "domain"....... files which are the defaut shares . The rest HDDs just for movies, i can bear the data lost. Is that possible >?>
July 29, 20223 yr Community Expert Just set them up ad a pool. The default format in Unraid for a pool is the BTRFS version of RAID1 (although you can switch to any of the other variants that BTRFS supports.
July 29, 20223 yr Community Expert HDDs go in the array, which doesn't have to have parity. But why not have parity? SSDs go in pool. The first pool is often called cache, but it doesn't have to be called that, and it doesn't have to be used for caching. You can have additional pools. I have a cache pool for caching, and another pool named 'fast' for appdata, domains, system, whatever

Parity isn't just about not losing data, and it isn't a backup anyway. It allows a disk to be rebuilt, which is a lot easier than trying to figure out what data is missing.
