September 1, 20223 yr A power outage corrupted my USB. I have a backup from a few months ago, but between then and now I added another disk. With the restored USB, the new drive shows as unassigned. When I assign it, it gives the ominous warning "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is started". Is there a way to add this drive without overwriting its data?
September 2, 20223 yr Tools, new config, be VERY VERY SURE that the drive you put in parity slots are correct. Parity assigned drives WILL be permanently overwritten, so if you are at all unsure about it, don't put any drives at all in the parity slots until you confirm the rest of your data drives are correct. You can start the array with data drives only and check the contents.
September 2, 20223 yr If you have notifications activated for daily array health report, your disk assignement is listed in the message. (email or other method)
