September 20, 20223 yr Hi, https://imgur.com/a/Om7LDB2 I'm hoping somebody could help me to understand the diagnostics and why I'm getting millions of read errors during parity-sync. Current ETA is 10 days for the parity check to finish (took 10 hours when I first set up the array a few days ago). I thought a bad PSU was the explanation but I've now swapped that out for a brand new Corsair model and still get errors (although fewer this time). I've re-seated the cables multiple times but that also hasn't made much difference. I'm using these cables: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MXWB6S2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 LSI 9211-8i i5-3570K CPU and 16 GB RAM I've tried running SMART checks but the short test doesn't seem to show anything obvious to my eye, and I don't think the longer test will actually run. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer! Edited September 20, 20223 yr by Waddle
September 20, 20223 yr Author Sorry I completely missed the massive 'attach files' at the bottom, I was looking for it on the top toolbar! Diagnostics attached properly this time! beamish-nas-diagnostics-20220920-1555.zip
September 20, 20223 yr Community Expert Solution Formatted with type 1 protection You need to remove this protection from the disks, more info below: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/93432-parity-disk-read-errors/?do=findComment&comment=864078 https://forums.unraid.net/topic/110835-help-with-a-sas-drive/

Do you know if there is a way to remove the type1 protection without losing data?
September 20, 20223 yr Author Thanks again, I'll backup the files that are on there and try again with the Type 1 protection removed
September 24, 20223 yr Author So far so good, I've run the following command for each SAS disk: sg_format --format --fmtpinfo=0 /dev/sdb Then they needed formatting from the Main tab Halfway through Parity check with 0 errors!
