Kuleinc
I dunno what I'm doing wrong, but when I try to start the array it hangs when trying to mount the "cache" drive, as far as I can tell. I added some disks earlier today and re-setup my shares to use the disks I want, ran mover, went to work. and when I came home, this is what I found... nas-diagnostics-20220926-1945.zip Quote Link to comment
Kuleinc
I just remembered one other thing I did today when I got home. I had received my PS2 to USB adapter. I have a rack mount screen with IBM keyboard and mouse and they are PS2, but my tyan s7045 motherboard doesn't have ps2 only USB. So when I got home I plugged the mouse and keyboard into the adapter and plugged the adapter into the USB port on the motherboard. I don't see how this could affect the array, but thought I should mention it in case Ive done something wrong. I don't need to have it plugged in, but its three stories down in the garage, so I'm not going down there to unplug it unless I have to 🙂 Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Pool is missing a device, do you know what happened to it? Quote Link to comment
Kuleinc
Yes I tried to add the second 500gb SSD to the regular cache but it just mirrored the current drive and didn’t extend the storage capacity to 1TB. So I removed it. Its just unassigned. I tried adding it back but it doesn’t work/help Edited September 27, 2022 by Kuleinc Quote Link to comment

Default mode is raid1, mirror, it can be changed. Reconnect the other device and post new diags before array start. Quote Link to comment

Kuleinc
also, I have some NVME add in adapter cards coming with 2TB nvme drives to put in later this week, I may need help doing that "right" 🙂 I did already also add in a melanox 10G network adapter and that seemed to work fine, waiting on my brocade 6610 and micotik 5 port switches to come in to test. Solution JorgeB Posted September 27, 2022 Solution Share Posted September 27, 2022 Now unassign all cache devices, start array, stop array, re-assign both cache devices and post new diags after array start. Quote Link to comment
Kuleinc
did all that, here is the diag: nas-diagnostics-20220927-1018.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
OK, it's balancing to raid1, didn't crash wet which is a good sign, wait to see if it finishes, if yes backup anything important in the pool and recreate with just the single device, assuming that's still what you want. Kuleinc
Is it possible to make them a 1TB pool together? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Yes, but before attempting that make sure backups are up to date, same issue that caused the pool to hang after removing a device might do the same when converting the pool, to convert click on cache, then scroll down to "balance status", next to the "balance" button select "convert to raid0" then click "balance".
