June 23, 201115 yr I've just taken my unRAID apart to fit new fans to my drive cages, and added another supermicro card so I can add two more HDDs. On power up it's run through some drive checks, and prompts me to press ctrl-m for bios or press space to continue. The only issue is, my usb keyboard isn't recognised by the server anymore so I'm stuck on this screen. I've tried plugging the keyboard into several drive usb ports on the server, and though the keyboard registers power the keys do nothing. Any ideas? Thanks
June 23, 201115 yr Have you plugged into the USB ports directly on the motherboard? There is a plug for the front USB ports that plugs into the motherboard, so maybe that got disconnected. Do you have any other keyboards in the house to try? Or some other USB devices to see if its your keyboard, or the USB ports that are messed up?
June 23, 201115 yr Some motherboards have a BIOS setting to enable USB keyboard support, it might be called "legacy usb support" - with this setting disabled the USB keyboard will only work post BIOS. If your BIOS has this setting you'll need a PS/2 keyboard to get in an enable it (modern day version of the old "Keyboard missing - press F1 to continue" conundrum)

I'm forced to keep my crappy old PS2 keyboard around just for this reason.
July 17, 201114 yr Author Anyone know why this message comes up when I boot unraid in the first place though? I didn't before...
July 18, 201114 yr Look in your BIOS for an option called 'halt on errors' (or similar) and disable it. That should prevent the message from coming up again. If your CMOS battery died, then that would explain your motherboard BIOS was restored to default settings, which in turn explains both of the problems you saw (USB keyboard not working and error message).
