GPU Passthrough not working after updating to 6.11.5

Featured Replies

Hi, I hope i posted this is the right section.

To keep this simple, I was previously on 6.11.1 and had a VM with my gpu passthrough working and decided to update after seeing Space invader's new video

after the update it bonked my VM and it wouldn't run.

I created a new VM with windows 10 install on it where it would run fine with the virtual display drivers but once I passthroug my GPU it doesn't want to start.

here is the xml for the vm

2022-11-25T11:19:41.295533Z qemu-system-x86_64: terminating on signal 15 from pid 6398 (/usr/sbin/libvirtd)

hi ghost, I don't mean to high jack this thread, but I'm encountering the same issue too..

i was from 6.9.2 then i upgraded to 6.11.5. .. then my Windows VM doesn't have a diplay anymore. and my CPU 4th core is always at 100%.

I have attached above VM log.

at first my migrated VM was not working so, I thought creating a new windows 10 VM from version 6.11.5, would make things work. but still I'm back to 0, my VM still has no display.

So the easiest solution i found was just to switch to Q35.  I couldn't just change it and it would give me a error but I just made a new VM with q35 as the default and the gpu passthrough worked

Thanks

I got my RX550 working after upgrade from 6.9.2 to 6.11.5 with these steps. Not ideal, but a good bandaid :)
