cannot mount new disk added to array

Featured Replies

I had a 3 data disk + 2 parity disks array. All 8TB

I wanted to add 1 more data disk. I used the unassigned devices preclear plugin to prepare the disk (mainly to see that disk is good). It took about 33 hours, and all looked OK. Then I added the disk to the array and started the array. It came back unmountable with no filesystem

So I used the format button under the start array, and it seemed to say formatting for a few seconds, but then eventually goes back to "

Unmountable: Unsupported partition layout" status again

What am I doing wrong?

I also saw this thread suggesting a bug with 6.11.2, but it seems to say it was fixed with 6.11.3. I am already on 6.11.5

Dec 21 17:50:05 Godaam root: Warning: The kernel is still using the old partition table.
Dec 21 17:50:05 Godaam root: The new table will be used at the next reboot or after you
Dec 21 17:50:05 Godaam root: run partprobe(8) or kpartx(8)

Just reboot and re-format and it should be good.
