Unraid doesn't boot, not from update and not from scratch

Featured Replies

Hey there. I posted a similar topic recently, but I decided to repost, because of the fundamentally changed state.

I originally couldn't update from 6.9.2. In my long troubleshooting steps I tried just reinstalling the newest version from scratch, and it gave me the same error: Unraid is detected, starts, but fails to finish booting. It stops working near the end of the normal boot process. I either get a green screen, or a glitching text screen. Unraid is not available on the network. I tried a different USB stick (of the same brand). My USB is the SanDisk Cruzer Fit. I tried installing with UEFI enabled and CSM disabled, as well as with UEFI disabled and CSM enabled, same result. I am still stuck on 6.9.2, and the MyServers Plugin is starting to break, so I really want to update. Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you have a current flash backup?

Are you booting from USB2 port (recommended)?

  • Author

Yes, I Always have current flash Backups and the Port Is USB 2.

Have you done memtest recently?

  • Author

No, Not recently. But that would surprise Me, considering 6.9.2 Runs Like a Charm.

I also tried Disabling Fast Boot and disabling Secure Boot. The weird Thing about it is that my flash Backup of 6.9.2 Always Runs great when I flash it Back, and I'm currently running it.

I have an integrated AMD GPU, will blacklist amdgpu and radeon, ok?

  • Author

YES, THAT WAS IT!! The faulty driver was amdgpu, the update worked like a charm now, Thank you so much, I spent months troubleshooting that issue!
