Can't boot after upgrading to 6.11.2 . couldn't allocate usb_device

Featured Replies

I had v6.9, upgraded to 6.10.2 with the GUI. Now the system does not boot normally.

I booted with Unraid OS Safe mode, and found it's stuck on this:

-  -  -  -  -

mount: tmpfs mounted on /run.

waiting up to 30 sec for device with label UNRAID to come online ... xhci_hcd 0000:00 :10. 0: Error while assigning device slot ID

xhci_hcd 0000:00:10.0: Max number of devices this xHCI host supports is 32.

I have a usb keyboard plugged in. What should I do now? Thanks

Do you have a current backup of flash?

no backup of flash.

I saw this from another post, how do i get to this part?

'If you updated using the GUI you can revert to the previous release by copying the bz* file from the /previous folder in the flash drive overwriting the new ones.'

config folder on flash has your configuration and is all you need to get your configuration on a new install.

Put flash in your PC and copy config folder.

Recreate flash drive as a new install using whichever version you want.

Copy config folder back to flash.

I did restored the boot flash drive, by copying all files to my pcs. then copying the contents of the 'previous' folder back to the root of the flash drive.

I am back on version 6.9.2, and would like to update to version 6.11.0.

I used the gui to update to 6.11.0, update successful, then reboot.

But when I reboot, i'm stuck on

mount: tmpfs mounted on /run.

waiting up to 30 sec for device with label UNRAID to come online ...

xhci_hcd 0000:00 :10. 0: Error while assigning device slot ID

xhci_hcd 0000:00:10.0: Max number of devices this xHCI host supports is 32.

usb usb7-port2: couldn't allocate usb_device

not found - press ENTER key to reboot . . .

Get it to boot whatever version you can then attach diagnostics to your NEXT post in this thread.

Looks like you're having connection problems with disk2, but that shouldn't cause booting problems.

Try downloading latest version zip file from the website and copy all the bz* files from the zip to your flash drive, replacing the bz* files from the other version.

Are you booting from USB2 port (recommended)?

I was able to update to 6.11.5 from gui, then using a different usb port for the flash drive.

But after boot, the array did not start. All disks are not assigned, and I can't assign any physical drives. They all say no device.

On 6.9 I am unable to replace a drive:

I don't understand these problems. I'm very scared of loosing data and I'm about to give up and buy a Synology or QNAP
