data rebuild

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm currently running a data rebuild because I exchanged a 16 GB for a 12 GB. so I'm just a little unsure. The rebuild started normally but I get Unmountable: Wrong or no file system displayed. Does this change after the rebuild is complete or should I have formatted the hard drive again in the field below?

Thanks and Greetings

It won't change.

Formatting is never part of a rebuild, you should post the diagnostics but likely need to check filesystem on that disk, array must be stopped to do it, but since the rebuild is past half way probably best to let it finish.

Ok, I will wait for the end of the rebuild and check it then.

thanks

How long does the filesystem check works ? about 20 hours for 16 TB ?

Phase 1 - find and verify superblock...
bad primary superblock - bad magic number !!!

attempting to find secondary superblock...

That's not a good sign, post the diagnostics and the output of:

blkid

Preclear test for this disk was good before I start the rebuild. It is a new disk.

According to blkid disk1 is btrfs, stop array, click on disk1, change fs to btrfs, start array.

That looks fine🙂. Is it possible to change to XFS ?

Yes, but you'd need to copy all the data elsewhere (assuming no backups), format then restore the data.

I have the old 12 TB disk with the data under Unassigned Devices. I format disk 1 to XFS and restore then the data of the old 12 TB disk, right ?
