Brandon_K
I've been using Unraid long enough that I thought I had a firm understanding of how directory split levels worked. After a data loss (not related to Unraid) and rebuild, it appears that I'm confused. I have a number of shares, but specifically I want to talk about TV and movies. I have a /media_TV and a /media_movies share. Both are high water allocation and both are set to split only the top two levels. My naming convention is; /media_movies/Movie (YEAR)/Movie_Title.xyz /media_TV/SeriesName/Season xx/ShowTitle_SxxExx.....xyz Reading this; https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Shares#Split_level I was under the impressions that any series would stay on a single disk. IE, "My Favorite Show" would only ever stay on disk 1 and "My Second Favorite Show" would only ever live on disk 2. While I don't have the issue with films at all, (likely since I'm never adding content back to a movie folder), but I'd like to fix the issue before I do. Am I simply wrong in my understanding of level splits? Should they both be set to level 1? Quote Link to comment
itimpi
With your TV share and a split level of 2 then a SeriesName can be split across drives (as that is at level 2) but a Season is constrained to the drive it is created on. Quote Link to comment
Brandon_K
Thanks. I clearly misunderstood the graphic. I need to change them to Level 1 it would seem. Quote Link to comment
