  1. Unraid V 6.12.3, Unassigned Devices plugin; whatever was the version previous to todays update. I've added a few more drives to my array. It's been a while since I added any disks, so maybe I forgot to do something? I; * added the disks to the machine * from the Unassigned Disks section I precleared all 3 drives simultaneously (clicking on the "preclear" icon to the right of the drive label) * The drives pre-cleared without issue, as expected. The button to the right was "UDEV" as consistent with the bug in the UD plugin * I stopped the array, added the 3 drives to the available slots and restarted the array Surprisingly, it went straight in to a disk check, defeating the purpose of pre-clearing the drive. After another 24 hours it was done, I formatted the unmountable drives in the array and all was right in the world. Did I miss something so that they would add straight to the array with no check? I have another (5) 14TB drives coming next week and would like to avoid this in the next round.
  2. Thank you thank you for this, as well as the update! I've been waiting for this since the first day I installed the Tailscale container. Up and running with exit node, zero issues.
  3. I have Emby installed on my machine but don't use it (installed to see if Live TV is better than Plex, but they don't have any trial, you have to subscribe to use Live TV and I lost interest). I can test transcoding with it later this evening.
  4. I've had no issues with Plex doing transcode and tone mapping ever since Unraid rolled out the updates many months ago. Nothing special. binhex's Plex build in a container. Plex Pass, hardware acceleration and tone mapping enabled. Intel GPU TOP plugin. '/dev/dri' (no quotes) as a *device* path in the container.
  5. Same issue as above, no files being added. 6.11.5 Unlike Jimmy, I was unable to revert to a previous version; plugin: installing: dynamix.file.integrity.plg Executing hook script: pre_plugin_checks plugin: downloading: dynamix.file.integrity.plg ... done Executing hook script: pre_plugin_checks plugin: skipping: inotify-tools-3.14-x86_64-1.txz - Unraid version too high, requires at most version 6.2.9 plugin: skipping: b2sum-20130305-x86_64-1.txz - Unraid version too high, requires at most version 6.3.9 +============================================================================== | Skipping package b3sum-1.0.0-x86_64-1 (already installed) +============================================================================== plugin: downloading: dynamix.file.integrity.txz ... done plugin: bad file MD5: /boot/config/plugins/dynamix.file.integrity/dynamix.file.integrity.txz Executing hook script: post_plugin_checks
  6. Thanks. I clearly misunderstood the graphic. I need to change them to Level 1 it would seem.
  7. I've been using Unraid long enough that I thought I had a firm understanding of how directory split levels worked. After a data loss (not related to Unraid) and rebuild, it appears that I'm confused. I have a number of shares, but specifically I want to talk about TV and movies. I have a /media_TV and a /media_movies share. Both are high water allocation and both are set to split only the top two levels. My naming convention is; /media_movies/Movie (YEAR)/Movie_Title.xyz /media_TV/SeriesName/Season xx/ShowTitle_SxxExx.....xyz Reading this; https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Shares#Split_level I was under the impressions that any series would stay on a single disk. IE, "My Favorite Show" would only ever stay on disk 1 and "My Second Favorite Show" would only ever live on disk 2. While I don't have the issue with films at all, (likely since I'm never adding content back to a movie folder), but I'd like to fix the issue before I do. Am I simply wrong in my understanding of level splits? Should they both be set to level 1?
  8. I wanted to post an update for anyone that might run in to a similar situation. JorgeB's post above got me at least close to recovering ~90% of the array. Running those commands on each drive, then; * Stopping the array * Removing one disk at a time from the array * Starting the array * Stopping the array * Adding the disk back in to the array * Starting the array That got me to a point of lost+found folders (hundreds or thousands depending on the disk) that had ~90% of the data in it. I copied each array disk to a empty disk mounted as a unassigned device, then let the parity rebuild (which accomplished nothing. I was hoping parity might restore the folder structure, it didn't). Sorting through the data was partially not bad, partially nightmare fuel. The bulk of the data was media and since I'm anal, I don't mix media types per disk. TV on disks X, y, z, films on a, b, c, etc. I pulled my personal data disk out of the array entirely in hopes of recovering all of the data with a directory structure with data recovery software. I haven't done that yet, but at least the disk is out and nothing new has been written to it. One of the disks, after rebuild, came back with "invalid partition structure" (or something like that). Ultimately, after I pulled all of the data off of the disks on to non-array disks, I formatted the array and started from scratch, copying all of the data back to the array. ~30TB of actual data took 7 or 8 days in total of copying, rebuilding, copying back. It sucked. 0/10, two thumbs down, no stars, do not recommend.

There are a million lost & found folders in each drive, the directory structure has been completely wiped out. The amount of data used on the disks looks to be about correct. I ran the same commands on md1, md2 and md3 (in maintenance mode), stopped the array, restarted the array. Those 3 disks are still unmountable. Going forward, my only thought is to start by rebuilding disk 5 from parity, again, now that it is mountable. If that works, I'll do the same with 4, 3, 2, 1. I'm certainly open to other suggestions. Regarding the lost and found folders, I'm assuming there is no way to restore the directory structure? While it isn't horrific for the media side of things, for the photo directories it is a nightmare as it has split 2-4 photos out in to it's own lost and found folder.
  10. Unfortunately I got antsy and started a rebuild on disk 5 (screenshots posted above). Rebuild completed a little bit ago, but it's not showing the data. I'm guessing this is due to disks not able to be mounted? Do I need to format all of the disks to mount as it suggests? Diagnostics are attached. The earlier diagnostic (-1430) is from after the rebuild completion. The second diagnostic (-1511) is after removing disk 4 and attempting to emulate the data, which it did not do. I've pulled disk 4 out as that is data that I cannot recreate from any source, so I'll try to attempt to recover that later with PhotoRec if rebuilding from parity doesn't work At least the disk is safe from any over-writing. For now, I'm willing to spend some time / days in rebuilding from parity. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be appreciated. katsuya-diagnostics-20230214-1430.zip katsuya-diagnostics-20230214-1511.zip
  11. I got antsy and think (thought?) I had enough understanding of the process to proceed. I unassigned disk 5 from the array and started it, immediately canceling the parity check again. No data from that disk appeared to be present in the share that it uses, other than the data on the cache that has not moved to the share. I stopped the array (which won't stop, it sits and hangs for 10+ minutes saying something about trying to stop the shares. It requires a reboot to get anywhere with it). I reassigned the same disk back to the same location, it presented as a new disk. Started the array, it says it's rebuilding, but it still shows disk 5 as Unmountable. There is still no data in the share for it, even though it says it's being emulated? Am I on my way to recovery success or am I hosed?
  12. That is great to know. What is the best approach on how to rebuild? Emulate and copy one at a time? Physically replace one disk in the array with a different disk and let it rebuild? I fear that if I format a disk that is currently in the array that it will do something to the parity and eliminate any chance I have of any recovery. I'm just trying to be careful and know exactly the steps that I should take to proceed.
  13. Thank you for your response! I have 2 parity disks and 5 data disks. 4 of the data disks contain data that can mostly be replaced. 1 of the data disks has data on it that I do not have a current backup of. It cannot rebuild all 5 disks from parity, correct? From your comment in the post you linked; I'm trying to understand the best way to attack this as I don't understand what you mean by "rebuild on top". If I pull a disk and the parity is able to emulate, should I copy that emulated data to an unassigned disk? If I format one disk at a time in the array, will it automatically attempt to rebuild the disk on the now formatted disk? I'm just trying to have a complete understanding of what steps I should be doing, in what order, to attempt to have the best success at recovering the data. Thank you!
  14. Unfortunately yes, it was set to Simple Volume on initial boot. It looks like you were never able to recover from this? Restore from backup?
