Cannot access unassigned device

Featured Replies

I have an external 8GB hard drive installed on my server as an unassigned device. in the last few days, I noticed that Windows no longer can connect to it, "Windows cannot access \\Phoenix\wsd8td9y|". In Unraid, when I try to view the contents of the disk, I am not able to. If I try to unmount the disk, it does not unmount. I have no idea what is going on. How do I fix this? Everything was working fine before.

You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread.

Your log says:

Mar 13 09:55:08 Phoenix unassigned.devices: Unassigned Devices are not set to be shared with SMB.
Mar 13 09:55:08 Phoenix unassigned.devices: Unassigned Devices are not set to be shared with NFS.

Go to Settings->Unassigned Devices and set SMB security to something other than no.

That is really odd, it was sent to "Yes" before. Not sure how that changed. That fixed the problem of not being able to access the drive, however, when I now go into the device, it shows 6.5TB are used, but none of the files are being displayed in either Unraid or Windows!

I rebooted the server, and I can now see the contents of the drive. Thank you for your help. :)
