July 12, 20232 yr After upgrading to 6.12 I went through the process of converting my cache drive and 1 array disk to ZFS. The drive on my array that I converted to ZFS is used for storage and is not normally accessed and almost never spins up in routine use (used for backups occasionally). For some reason since converting to ZFS, I get constant reads on the array drive that never really stops. The cache drive also has an extremely high amount of reads without anything going on with the server. I tried updating to the latest rc release to see if it would get fixed and it hasn't. I have attached an example image showing how the ZFS drives are being read an extreme amount and I have attached my diagnostics files. July 12, 20232 yr Community Expert Try uninstalling the ZFS master plugin, or not keeping the browser opened on the main GUI page, that will cause small reads by the plugin, and also prevent disks to spin down, or make them spin up.
July 12, 20232 yr Having this issue too, on 6.12.2 - ZFS Master doesn't exist for me, (it did a few weeks ago as i wanted to check it out though). There's nothing actually on the array either, other than my media. Everything 'active' is on a ZFS pool, and the only thing that can access the media is Jellyfin, which is off right now. Seemed fine on 6.12.1 Edited July 12, 20232 yr by boomam
July 14, 20232 yr Author @JorgeBI tried your suggestion. I uninstalled ZFS Master and I made sure all browser windows are closed. It didnt help. This morning I upgraded to the newest RC of unraid and I left for the day (no browsers open all day) and I got the same thing. I have attached the new diagnostics and the new image of my main screen. server-diagnostics-20230713-2305.zip
July 14, 20232 yr Community Expert You need to try and find out what's reading or writing to it, there's a plugin that may help:
July 15, 20232 yr Author OK running file activity plugin the only thing that comes up is my VM running on my cache disk yet the read count on my ZFS drives keeps increasing. Nothing on that drive is showing up on File Activity.

Aparently these files are being used: ** Disk 1 ** Jul 29 18:19:03 CREATE => /mnt/disk1/1616079831.tmp Jul 29 18:19:03 OPEN => /mnt/disk1/1616079831.tmp Jul 29 18:19:03 MODIFY => /mnt/disk1/1616079831.tmp Jul 29 18:19:03 OPEN => /mnt/disk1/1616079831.tmp Jul 29 18:19:03 DELETE => /mnt/disk1/1616079831.tmp I am not sure where they come from... Apparently it was the ZFS plugin that kept spinning up my drives every time I entered the Main tab.... Edited July 29, 20232 yr by Laov
August 30, 20232 yr I think I found the issue leading to this thread and I explained my solution here:
June 23, 20251 yr Hello,Tried every solution:Deactivate ZFS Master auto refreshDeactivate Docker and VMTried File Activity Plugin but nothing shows up regarding these disks on it.I have constant read on my two HDD ZFS pool but the rest of the "normal" array spin down correctly.Any other ideas I could try?Thank you in advance for the help.
June 23, 20251 yr I also started having weird ZFS spin up issues (unraid ver 6.12.15). To me it looks like it is related to docker as when I enter the main page the docker list is not populated and only gets populated after ZFS drive spinup. This consistently happens 1ce a day on 1st visit to unraid main page. Consequent visits do not spin up the drive. Weird issues but I am planning to upgrade to 7.x.x so I was not keen to look at it for now. But since a wild post appeared that pinged me on this 2 year old thread might as well ask for what I can check...
