dimitriz
I have 7 drives that are attached via USB to the Unraid box. All show up fine in Unassigned and are Shared out, making them accessible over the network. However, after a period of time, the drives show as if nothing is on them. root@Tower:/mnt/disks/S-01# ls /bin/ls: reading directory '.': Input/output error I've tried unplugging the drives and trying a different USB port but they still stay this way. My only option is to reboot the Unraid box and then they start acting normally again for a week or two. Any thoughts or suggestions regarding this? I kind of think that there is an issue with Unraid and USB controller. tower-diagnostics-20230728-2234.zip Quote Link to comment

Hopefully you unmount the disks before you unplug them. Based on your log, it appears you are not unmounting first: Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22374]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22374]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdx2, logical block 36561612, async page read Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[23876]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[23876]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdaa2, logical block 73, async page read Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[23763]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[23763]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdab2, logical block 173, async page read Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22458]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22458]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdy2, logical block 126, async page read Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22326]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22326]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdv2, logical block 720961, async page read Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22407]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[22407]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdw2, logical block 14178, async page read Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[24003]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower ntfs-3g[24003]: Failed to read index block: Input/output error Jul 28 22:33:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdz1, logical block 1467255154, async page read Or, the disks are dropping off line and creating a lot of ntfs issues. I think we lost power and for some reason I didn't have these drives on UPS. Quote Link to comment
