Memory usage

Sorry if Im posting in the wrong forum.

Im not sure if my total memory usage looks odd or not.

I have a total of 48GiB installed.

I have 1 VM that has 8GiB assigned to it.

But my memory usage seems to be a little high.

I do have 16 dockers running but when I look at the advanced view in dockers they dont seem to be using that much memory.

So if I go 

root@Tower:~# free -m
                      total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available
Mem:           48139       13029        1264        1619       33846       32936
Swap:                  0           0           0

 

Thats ok.

Just out of interest what goes into the cache?

Any read/written data goes to RAM cache first.
