August 2, 20232 yr A quick question here. I started using unraid about a year back, with 2 hard disk, both 4 TB. so Disk A parity and Disk B storage. I wanted to expand the storage. I could go with 4tb for Disk C. But thinking maybe its time to just add 2 parity as well. Idea is to buy 4TB x 2 to replace Disk A. And then Disk A to add on storage together with Disk B. What is the safest way/method to do it without loosing data or messed up. Edited August 2, 20232 yr by safiedin
August 2, 20232 yr Community Expert If they are all 4TB why replace parity? But if you want to just do a normal parity replacement, keep old parity intact during the re-sync, once done you can add old parity to the array.
August 2, 20232 yr Author so add disk C with A to become 2 parity at the same time add disk D with B to become storage?

I do not think that Unraid will let you add a new parity and a new array disk in one step so you would need to do them one after the other (in any order).
