Thanks for the tip! In this case, however, I never dreamed that I could have a bad format on the disk, as the first disk I used was properly formatted and was totally blank - no files on it at all. It didn't dawn on me that the format itself might have been bad and then carried over every time I replaced the physical disk....but now I know better.
