August 6, 20232 yr Hi, I'm super new to Unraid and have been trying to set up a server for hours. My issue is that I'm not able to connect to the internet with Unraid, or my local server on another computer on the same network. Both PCs are connected to the same router via ethernet. I have windows installed on the same PC I'm loading Unraid onto, and it connects to the internet fine. I've reformatted and reinstalled the OS many times, I've tried renaming the network.cfg folder to network.cfg.old, I've tried using DHCP for most of the time, and now I'm trying to use a static route. It is more than likely I'm a total idiot and I'm missing something basic, so I thought I'd ask for help hoping someone can fix me. Additional info - Router is a Netgear Nighthawk, PC is a Kamrui mini-PC with 16gb of ram and an intel A100, with 2 drives totaling 2.5tb of SATA SSD space. tower-diagnostics-20230805-1303.zip
August 6, 20232 yr Community Expert Unraid had no ethernet connection. How many ethernet ports on that PC?

August 7, 20232 yr Author Still not sure what's actually going on here As I stated the hardware is fine and internet functions as-intended on the windows partition. The singular ethernet port is connected directly to my router. Are there more diagnostics I could run to help me troubleshoot a little smarter?
August 7, 20232 yr Community Expert The NIC is not detecting a link, if it works with Windows (and it would be good to retest to make sure it still does) it could be a driver issue, Realtek NICs are kind of hit and miss with Linux, mostly miss, do you have an addon NIC you could use? Ideally from Intel.

Is it possible to download a functioning driver onto the flashdrive and install from there? Or is the issue that there aren't really drivers that could resolve my issue.

Not that I know of, and I'm not certain the driver is the problem, 12 minutes ago, JorgeB said: if it works with Windows (and it would be good to retest to make sure it still does) with the current connection.

Okay so after checking again, the static IP isn't working, I'm super new to this stuff and I can't seem to get a grip on what values I can use and which I can't. I tried going back to DHCP and I'm still having issues though, going to attach a new diagnostic with DHCP enabled. boxcar-diagnostics-20230807-0707.zip
August 7, 20232 yr Community Expert Still no link being detected on the NIC, with no link detected no real point in changing other settings.

August 8, 20232 yr Community Expert Until a link is detected no pint in changing any settings, for a link you just need a cable and a switch, if everything else was working correctly, did you retry with a different OS to confirm the NIC is still working with that connection?

I did, I confirmed that windows was still correctly connecting to the internet with the same cable and the same switch.
August 8, 20232 yr Community Expert Then most likely it's a Realtek driver problem, suggest using an addon NIC, ideally from Intel.
August 8, 20232 yr Author It's a micro PC with no open slots for an expansion card, so unfortunately that's not an option. I'll poke around for another day before using windows, thanks for pointing out that it's the drivers, this has been driving me insane for the last few days.
