What software will connect you to your server?

Featured Replies

I know there must be software out there that does this. Basically I would like to run software (Windows or maybe on unRAID server) that will enable me to access all my media files on my unRAID server and stream them to whatever client I'm using. A computer, itouch, ipad, etc....Not just on my local LAN, through the Internet I would like to access my files.

A program similar to that like Subsonic. That displays all your music files via browser and can access them from anywhere you are. They must make software like that for video files and other type of media files, right?

SubSonic actually does stream video, it transcodes it and outputs via flash, works pretty well. In order to access it from outside of your home network you have to open up the appropriate port on your home router.

I tried Subsonic and AirPlayit. Both were cumbersome and didn't work to well. I'll just keep searching.
