Need to move my data after array created

Featured Replies

Hello to all,

I finally installed Unraid O.S. on my new "domestic server" and I decided to use not all my available disks to create the array.

The reason is to avoid lost my data during building the array.

In detail this is my situation:

I have totally 6 ssd (Samsung Evo 870 4TByte each) but 4 empty and 2 full of files.

I created the array using 1 Parity disk and 3 empty disk as storage devices. What I'm thinking to do is, when array will be created, connect my last two disks (with files) and move all files in the array.

What is the right way to do this?

Hope my explanations is understandable!

Many thanks in advance, kindest regards!

You can use the UD plugin to mount the existing data SSDs and copy the data to the array (assuming they are using a supported filesystem).

Many thanks JorgeB for your quickly reply!

I installed as suggested the UD Plugin and I mounted the two disks with my data. They are EXT4 and are totally compatible.

Just my last question.....

There is a sort of procedure to move the data from these two disks to the array directly or I have to enable the two smb share and move from the tow disk to the array using my laptop? In this way the timing will be more long.....

Thanks again!

You can move the data directly, use for example the Dynamix File manager and move from the UD disk path to a user share.
